New Content Experience is coming to Brightspace

Beginning with theÌýfall 2027 semester,ÌýNew Content ExperienceÌýwill be the default content design in Brightspace.ÌýNew Content Experience is a more modern, intuitive design for the Content area of Brightspace courses. Since the Content page is the most used tool by faculty and students, the update bringsÌýimprovements and better usability to Brightspace courses.ÌýNew Content Experience providesÌýbetterÌýsupport for mobile devices for studentsÌýand an improvedÌýinstructor workflow for adding materials to courses.Ìý

New Content Experience can be enabled byÌýinstructors and other course builders on a course-by-course basis. It is important to note that no content is lost when switching between Classic and New Content Experience. The only change is how that content is displayed. Instructors and other course builders will have theÌýoptionÌýof switching toÌýNew Content Experience in courses throughout the 2026–27 academic year. The first time one of these users visits the Content page in a course,Ìýa notificationÌýwillÌýgiveÌýthese users the option to enableÌýNew Content Experience for that course.Ìý

During this transition period—andÌýonce the default Content view has been changed—instructors and other course builders still control what Content view theyÌýhave in their courses. These users can decline to switch toÌýNew Content Experience for the 2026–27 academic year, and starting with theÌýfall 2027 semester, theyÌýcanÌýchange back toÌýClassic Content view as needed on a course-by-course basis. Course builders canÌýget more informationÌýon how to make the change from one Content view to anotherÌýinÌý.Ìý
