MEDIA ADVISORY: ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´’s new students officially join university by taking Founders Walk Aug. 23

More than 1,800 new ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ students, including about 1,600 first-year students and more than 200 transfer students, will march into the school’s main gate Sunday, Aug. 23, at 5 p.m. during Founders Walk, a tradition that formally welcomes new students to the ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ community. The students will march past the statue of Commodore Cornelius ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ and be greeted by administrators, faculty, students, alumni and staff. Following the procession, the students will be seated on Curry Field where they will be addressed by Chairman of the ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ Board of Trust , Chancellor , Dean of Students Mark Bandas, Dean of Admissions Doug Christiansen, Faculty Senate Chair Cynthia Paschal and ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ Student Government President Wyatt Smith.

WHAT: More than 1,800 new ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ students, including first-year and transfer students, will carry banners and march into the school’s main gate during Founders Walk, a tradition that formally welcomes new students to the ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ community.

WHERE:
Students will line up on 24th Avenue South and walk down West End Avenue into ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´’s main gate (located across from Caterpillar Financial building).
