MEDIA ADVISORY: ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´’s new students officially join university by taking Founders Walk Aug. 24

More than 1,700 new ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ students, including first-year and transfer students, will carry banners and march into the school’s main gate 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, during Founders Walk, a tradition that formally welcomes new students to the ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ community. The students will march past the statue of Commodore Cornelius ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ and be greeted by administrators, faculty, students, alumni and staff. Following the procession, students will hear from Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos, Dean of Students Mark Bandas and ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ Student Government President Joseph Williams before their induction to the university’s honor system by Honor Council President and ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ senior Abby Stufflebam.

WHAT: More than 1,700 new ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ students, including first-year and transfer students, will carry banners and march into the school’s main gate during Founders Walk, a tradition that formally welcomes new students to the ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ community.

WHERE: Students will line up on 24th Avenue South and walk down West End Avenue into ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´’s main gate (located across from Caterpillar Financial building).
