Metro Nashville Council At-Large Forum set for Aug. 28; Candidates will answer questions at ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´’s Benton Chapel

Eight candidates vying for four Metro Nashville council at-large seats will speak and answer questions during a forum at ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´.

The “Forum to the Final Four” will take place from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28, in Benton Chapel on the ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ campus. Parking will be available in Wesley Place Garage at the corner of 21st Avenue South and Scarritt Place.

The forum is free and open to the public and will be moderated by Beth Fortune, associate vice chancellor of public affairs. The first hour will feature remarks from the candidates and a question-and-answer session. A reception will follow. It is sponsored by ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ and the .

The offices of mayor, four-of-five council-at-large seats and several council district seats are at stake in the Sept. 11 runoff election. All eight at-large candidates competing for four spots on the council – Megan Barry, Luvenia Harrison Butler, Ronnie Greer, Saletta Holloway, J.B. Loring, Jerry Maynard, Ronnie Steine and Charlie Tygard – will participate.

Tim Garrett was the only at-large candidate for council to receive enough of the Aug. 3 vote to secure a seat.
