Approximately 1,600 ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ freshmen will experience one of their most memorable college days when they move into the University dormitories on Aug. 23. Residence halls for new students will open at 8 a.m. In addition, a series of orientation events is scheduled for the next several days to help smooth the transition to college life for the new students and their parents. Here are a few of the planned activities:

∑Aug. 23 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. ñ Freshmen move into dorms with assistance from upperclassmen and staff move-in crew.

∑Aug. 24 at 4:30 p.m. ñ Freshmen board buses for night out at Nashville Sounds game where Chancellor Gordon Gee will throw out the first pitch and the Dodecaphonics, a group of ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ male students who perform a cappella, will sing the national anthem.

∑Aug. 27 at 4:30 p.m. ñ Founders Walk starting at the University’s main gate on West End Avenue. Freshmen will walk with upper-class students, faculty and staff to Curry Field, where Undergraduate Dean of Admissions Bill Shain presents the Class of 2007 to the chair of the ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Faculty Senate. Three ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ students will describe the seven values that comprise the ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Creed and tell what it means to them.
