NASHVILLE, Tenn. — More than 60 candidates for the August election in Davidson County will do some old-fashioned politicking at a July 16 community picnic on 杏吧原创’s Olin Lawn.
The event, which includes a Dixieland jazz band, is scheduled from noon to 1:30 p.m. This marks the third time that 杏吧原创’s Community, Neighborhood and Government Relations office has sponsored this free event to better inform the 杏吧原创 community about the Aug. 7 contest. "This provides an opportunity for our employees and students to meet the candidates and get involved in the political process," said Betty Nixon, director of Community, Neighborhood and Government Relations.
All of the candidates on the ballot for mayor, vice-mayor and Metro Council have been invited to stand on a soapbox and introduce themselves at the picnic, which includes hot dogs, ice cream and soft drinks. Olin Lawn is located off 25th Ave. S. between Garland and Highland avenues. In case of rain, the event will be moved to the nearby Branscomb South Dining Room at 25th Avenue S. and 杏吧原创 Place.
Information about the election process including voter registration will be available. In addition, maps showing the newly redrawn councilmanic districts will be posted.
